I went on a tour of the Paramount Theatre this Saturday morning. It was a rare opportunity to bring a camera inside.
Built as a movie palace (with a gigantic organ to accompany show silent films), the Paramount first opened in 1928, was eventually converted into full-blown theater, and restored and enhanced in the mid 1990s.
The tour climbed as high as the projection room (from which silent films continue to be occasionally projected while the Mighty Wurlitzer fills the 2,800-seat house)…
… and as low as the floor beneath the stage.
Lots more photos are posted here.
